Washing our faces is something we do on a daily basis (or so I would think), but did you know that soap actually strips away some very important skin oils on our faces? It can also create a cycle of over- or under- production of sebum which can result in breakouts or dry and flaky skin! The alternative? Why not make your own, natural facial cleansers!?
** Side note – Sebum is an oily secretion of the sebaceous glands
The following is a super easy to make Ancient Grains recipe:
- 2 cups white clay
- 1 cup finely ground oats
- 1/4 cup finely ground almonds
- 1/8 cup finely ground lavender
- 1/8 cup poppy seeds
- 1/8 cup finely ground roses
Combine all of the ingredients. To use, mix 1 -2 teaspoons with water. Stir into a paste and gently massage onto the face. Rinse off with warm water.
**For best results, it's better to grind the ingredients with a grinder or I personally use mortar and Pestle but this doesn't do a fine grind and can be messier on the face.
These cleansing grains are mild, nourishing, and suitable for all skin types! Not to mention, they can be used daily! They also provide healing and exfoliating properties, which are great for removing surface dirt and excess oil!
