For those of you with back pain, you can understand how it feels to want some relief without constantly taking medication to numb the pain. Being someone who has had back pain since the age of 12 I can relate and thought I would share a couple of yoga poses that help me.
Of course the go-to back postures are usually a flowing cat-cow. While I ALWAYS use these to warm up the spine and begin to stretch out the back, I have to say coming into some deeper twists and poses make me feel the best.
2 of my fav's:
Revolved Side Angle Pose (Parivtta Parsvakonasana) or revolved triangle for less work on the thigh muscles.
Plough Pose (Halasana)
These poses stretch my back just that little more, creating space between the vertebrae giving me that "ahhh" relief as I sit in the pose and breath deeply sending oxygen to these much needed areas.
Additional poses for back pain:
Fish
Half Lord of The Fishes Pose
Reclined Twist
However, everyone has back pain in different areas and are caused by a different reasoning, always check in with your instructor, natural health practitioner or chiropractor first before trying a new pose to make sure these movements will work for you.
Oodles of love for my back pain sufferers,
AAxo
